The Gospel of Luke is the longest book in the New Testament and forms the first part of Luke-Acts. Luke, the beloved physician and companion of Paul, carefully investigated and compiled his account so that Theophilus - and all readers - might have certainty about the life and mission of Jesus. The Gospel of Luke presents Jesus as the Savior for all people. Written with historical care and theological depth, Luke emphasizes the universal scope of Jesus’ mission, His compassion for the marginalized, His power over sickness and sin, and His role as the fulfillment of God’s promises. More than any other Gospel, Luke highlights God’s love for the poor, women, outsiders, and sinners - showing that in Jesus, God’s salvation has come for the whole world.
