“Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear”
Isaiah 59:1

Dear Via Family,

Christmas is in full swing! Trees, lights, and decorations are up. Plans are being made. Lists are made. Anticipation is growing. Our thoughts are about giving and expressing our love to others – both those close to us and even those we do not know. May the love, hope, peace, and joy of Christ shine through us as followers of Jesus!

There are some important items for this Sunday that I want to bring to your attention…

This Weekend
This weekend is the second week of Advent. We will focus on hope. Christmas is a story of hope: hope created, hope lost, and hope restored. Isaiah 59:1-21 will be our text. Invite someone to worship with you at Via Church this weekend – I think that this sermon will be fruitful for all of us as well as those that might be seeking.

Welcome Mat
If you have been attending Via Church for three months or less and have not yet attended Merge, I would like to invite you to have some refreshments with some of our pastors and me after either one of the services this Sunday. We will be set up and waiting for you in the lobby of our Chapel.  Your kids are welcome too! We would love to meet you and get to know you better.

Advent Giving
Throughout our four weekends of “Advent Giving” we have many opportunities for you to participate in giving to our neighbors and to those in our church. Here is a summary of the giving emphasis:

Last Sunday
Time: Thank you for setting aside regular time to pray for your church, your city and your world.

This Sunday, December 4
Food/Non-perishables: Bring your non-perishable food items into the courtyard this Sunday for this second week of advent. See the advent giving page on our website (www.viachurch.org/adventgiving) for details on what to bring. You can also print a PDF from here.

Sunday, December 11
Gifts: We are going to come alongside these families during Christmas. We do this through our stockings and gift tags (from tree in lobby), which go to local families in our community and church.

Sunday, December 18
Money: We join God in His mission. Our desire is to be faithful to this mission before us in our city. As you give during this week of advent giving, you are helping to fund Via Church and the partners in ministry that we support.
