Kids & Youth Lead the Way

In October, our kids and youth spent the month discussing generosity and they are leading us in this initiative. They are giving in-kind, which means they are bringing in possessions for their gift. There are some compelling stories coming out from our kids and youth and these are two of those stories.

What is Hope Initiative?

This is an opportunity for each of us to contribute toward the mission of our church so the hope of Jesus is visible to our city and world.

We are asking you to either start or increase your giving to Via Church over the next two years. What could you do to further our mission with your giving? Over the course of the next two years, how will you help our church family to further its mission to reflect the hope of Christ to our city and world?

We have a compelling but challenging vision ahead of us. The story of Via Church is entering a new chapter and we need to prepare ourselves to be salt and light in ways we previously had only dreamed. As family, we want you to heavily invest with us through this Hope Initiative.

A 2-YEAR VISION TO INVEST IN THE MISSION OF GOD FOR OUR CITY

Clear Vision / One-Fund

By His grace, God has allowed us to reflect hope to east Mesa for a number of years and we are desiring to greatly extend this hope. All giving will go toward this vision. You will no longer be asked to give “above and beyond your tithes/offerings” to special projects. Everyone is involved, no matter the amount of giving.

Our goal is to increase in giving so that our overall budget has an additional $2 million by the end of 2018. This will give us additional capital to build a strong church here, in our city and world.

Building a Strong Church

- Where God Has Planted Us -

We believe that building a strong church is fueling our Gospel-saturated ministry to kids, youth and adults–and every other area that helps us realize our mission. We seek to renovate our facilities so we can be responsive to the families who find hope at Via Church. The time is now. The time to continue to be relevant to families who are in desperate need of Jesus.

Via Church is a true pillar of Mesa. The leaders provide a welcoming environment that encourages worship and service to our community. The congregation takes this spirit of service to heart, dedicating their time and energy to Mesa, the surrounding region, and the world at large. I appreciate all the great things Via Church has done for our city, and I look forward to continuing this great partnership of service far into the future.
— John Giles, Mayor of Mesa
Via Church is a beacon of light for all of greater Phoenix. Via not only strives to be a faithful presence where God has rooted her, but to generously share their leadership, resources, and time with the wider church in Phoenix to help our city flourish. I am thankful for the way churches throughout our city look more like Jesus as a result of their relationship with Via Church.
— Dennae Pierre, Executive Director of The Surge Network (Phoenix)

Blessing Our City

- Where God Has Placed Us -

It is the calling of the Church to bless their neighbor. God wants Via Church to be a massive blessing not only in the city of Mesa, but also we feel into the city of Phoenix. God is leading us to plant a fully functioning congregation in the city of Phoenix to be a light for the Gospel. As we think further about ways in which we can bless our city, we desire to let people know that Via Church is here and would like to greatly increase our advertising in our five-mile radius–targeting those who aren't involved in faith to consider Jesus. Additionally, there are some fantastic organizations in our city that we have partnered with and would like to greatly increase our investment into these local partners.

Plant a Via Congregation in Phoenix area

We want to prayerfully and intentionally pursue planting another congregation. This congregation would be fully-functioning–meaning that it would have a lead pastor who would guide the movement and care of the church. Healthy disciples make disciples and healthy churches make churches. We believe this and want to see this type of multiplication happen within Via Church!

Advertise to our local community

As we consider our area, we realize that there is a huge harvest right around us. We pray that God would continue to send labors to Via Church to boldly proclaim the Gospel in all of life. Along with this, we desire to increase the visibility of Via Church through mailings, social media advertising, etc. This is a special place (not a perfect place) and we want others to know what God is doing here.

Deepen our investment in local partners in mission

(AZ127 - Foster Care & Adoption, Hope Women’s Center, and more)

We are connected to issues that deeply affect our city and state. These local partners help us to bless our city and love our neighbors well. We want these relationships and partnerships to flourish and increase greatly.

We are so thankful for Via Church and a decade long partnership in serving women and teens in crisis. From donating the building for one of our centers, to providing volunteers, material donations, and spiritual encouragement – Via Church continues to play a vital part in helping us bring Christ to the community!
— Tammy Abernethy, Executive Director of Hope Women's Center (Apache Junction & Phoenix)
Arizona 1.27 is a collaboration of local churches throughout Arizona who are committed to care for the needs of Arizona’s foster children. Together, as the body of Christ, we unite to put into practice, the scriptural mandate, of James 1:27. The leadership and community of believers of Via Church continue to be an integral part of the Arizona 1.27 collaboration as we press into the child welfare crisis of our state. Our goal is to see that families thrive and no child is ever without a loving, Christ-centered family. To date, we have ignited over 3,000 people to engage into caring for children of the foster care system and provided hundreds of safe and loving homes to children. Thank you, Via Church!
— Katie O'Dell, Director - AZ 1.27 (Foster Care)

Engaging Our World

- Where God Has Called Us -

Written into the DNA of Via Church is a firm commitment to the global move of the Gospel. In this two-year initiative, God is challenging us to give the largest amount ever to the global expansion of the Gospel.

This is Babrru, the area in the northern part of Tirana, Albania. This section of land is where Gospel of Christ Church will build a building for the church that will function as the worship space and a life skills space to help with education and job skill development. This was taken when one of our Global Teams was in Albania.

Complete church building project in Albania

Via, you so generously gave to come alongside Gospel of Christ Church to purchase the land in Babrru. Now is the time for us to show our generosity to our brothers and sisters in Christ and assist them in putting up the church building.

Deepen our investment in global partners in mission

(Expanding our global connection with partners in various regions, including: China, Mali, Zimbabwe, Mexico, and more)

Through the Hope Initiative, we want to be able to give the largest amount that Via Church has ever given to the global move of the Gospel. We are also furthering our partnerships with other significant missionaries and works around the world.

We are church planters in Utah. Earning the right to share the Gospel in our 98%-Mormon community takes patience and a lot of prayer. Via Church has been a huge blessing to us through financial help, resources and encouragement. Thank you for everything, Via Church. We love you guys!
— David Nicholson, Lead Pastor of New Community Church (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Giving at Via

Every dollar given goes to the whole mission that God has given us

SCROLL DOWN

Giving at Via

Every dollar given goes to the whole mission that God has given us

Every Dollar. Whole Mission.

To involve every person, where every dollar given fuels every ministry for the sake of the whole mission

Grace-filled. Grateful. Generous.

God has Been gracious to us and filled us with his grace

He has brought us from death to live. He has turned us from enemies into friends. He has adopted us into his family. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. These realities are true because of Jesus. God chose to save through Jesus. Jesus is the way to be restored to our loving Creator. We live to proclaim this reality.

This undeserved grace makes us passionately grateful

One of the ways we proclaim this is by worshipping God with our entire lives. One portion of this all-of-life stewardship is our finances. We realize that God has given us the ability to generate income and the wisdom to manage money. We also sit under the grace that God has bestowed on us in Christ and realize that everything we have is really God's and he entrusts us with various things–possessions, money, family, resources–for the purpose of worshipping him. We seek to steward well all that God puts into our hands, including money. This worship act is a way for us to express our gratitude towards God for his loving generosity that he has displayed to us in Jesus.

Our Gratitude produces A Visible generosity that is Striking

The result of us giving out of gratitude is a generosity that will be massively counter-cultural. We are natural consumers and this causes us to tend to make our greatest investments over the long-haul of our lives into ourselves–our stuff, our possessions, etc. This is an empty way to live. The type of generosity that is on display in the life of a generous church is a compelling picture of the life-giving love of God and the hope that is seen in God's Kingdom. We love that we have the opportunity God gives us to display his love to the world through our financial giving. This is an act infused by God's grace, which inspires our gratitude, resulting in God expressing his generosity through us in giving.

Movement is key

You may be fresh to giving or have giving faithfully to your local church for years. Wherever you are in your giving, we desire you to focus on what it looks like for you to prayerfully move into greater expressions of generosity in your life. For some, this will mean you will go from occasionally giving to your local church or more consistently giving. For some, this will mean that you start to move beyond a tithe (10% of your gross income). Our hope is that you would discover the joy of giving as God moves in your heart to display his generosity through your financial giving.
